TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati assured that Indonesia’s economy would grow stronger in the wake of the 2019 presidential election. She sees that it will mainly be driven by the ever transparent politics and democracy post “reformasi.”

“Ever since 1998, Indonesia’s politics is very much open, democratic, transparent, and decentralized,” said Sri Mulyani at the Hotel Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta today.

The speaker of the "Fitch an Indonesia - The Election, Macro Economy and Credit Market" event said that Indonesia’s economy has improved following past elections.

In an attempt to further assure stakeholders, Minister Sri Mulyani said that the 2019 general election set to be held on April 17, will not be too different from past elections in 2009 and 2014.

Previously, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) adjusted its economic growth projection to a slow percentage. As of 2019, the IMF predicts that the global economy will undergo 3.5 percent economic growth parallel to the slower global trade growth.
